Trying to yell and scream but the hands grip my throat and say no. I can’t breathe, I can’t scream, I can’t speak; no stop, stop, STOP! Someone help me, please help me. ‘Speak’ by Laurie Halse Anderson, it tells you to speak up, and not stay quiet when someone is hurting you. This tragedy starts with a teen, Melinda; she is a normal girl who has friends and a life. Then everything goes wrong; a wolf came and takes something from her, she never said a thing, she tried but couldn’t. Something that happens in life, something people are afraid to talk about, something the can make you depressed and tired. This thing in this story is rape; a predator named Andy, caught Malinda and raped her.

This subject couldn’t be more tabooed; it was shunned and looked down upon by society. Like a rule don’t hear, don’t talk, don’t tell; this may have been one reason Melinda didn’t speak. But as the story went on, you would think that her parents or teachers would notice the signs she showed of being a rape victim; the depression, lack of effort, skipping school, muteness, and panic attacks. But as must cases go, no one ever realized this, even though they had hints. Melinda’s own father said “What happened to my sweet little girl?”. Though out this everyone thought she was being a depressed teen not anything else, they really didn’t seem to care. The only person who knew was Andy, the rapist, and he didn’t care,

Then we hit the end of this story where finally the poor girl gets what she needs, hope. People start to see who Andy really is and shun him. Then Melinda gets her voice, a symbol of new life for her, and is free from the dragging bonds of her memory. The pain may still be there, but it doesn’t hold her down anymore. Everyone is stunned and probably regretting that they never noticed the signs. But the reason they didn’t notice was because they didn’t know the signs to be looking for; that most often leads to a bad ending, but thankfully it didn’t, this time. In the world there are as many “happy” endings like this one, most led to things that are unmentionable. People should be ashamed that we can’t seem to handle the truth, we thing we can ignore it and it will go away, but the more we pay attention the more “happy” endings will happen. If we speak the truth, then will be free from the pain and suffering, that is the message in ‘Speak’ by Laurie Halse Anderson.

No Way in Heaven!
This place it holds no ties to me, light, happiness, yet it's warm but still different from home. 'I want to go back to home, not here where everything is bright and blinding,' walking along the side of her gaurdian a girl, 14 years on her life, went up. Her long stright hair nearly white went down to end at the small of her back, it contrasted with her crimson dress. Pale, thin, no shoes, and eyes shaded like a sunset; holding her stright face she looked a the male next to her. Tall, handsome, red head, he actully looked serious, that was an omen the moment she saw his face. "without your smirking smile you look funny Uncle" "do I now? Well I guess I don't like heaven much" red irises hold on the younger's face. They soon reached the top of the golden stairs, waiting a guide soon came near, leding them past massive buildings to a smaller structe made entirly out of gold. Aproching the building the older out of the couple started to look ill, worried the younger was about to speak but the doors open.

'it was to bright before but this is just ridulce,' the light that was coming thourgh the door was brighter then the desert sun. "welcome Lucifur," the almighty was sat at his throne, few angles stood around the room but it was manyly emtye. The Almighty, or God, was blond (of course) blue eyed, and had a playful smile on his lips; "hello God" if looks could burn God would have been charcoal by now. "well I hope that my messager didn't cause to much trouble" the smirk was glued there own the face of the tormentor of my Uncle. Throwing any thoughts away Luc ran towards the Almighty, hitting the floor Lucifur's body gave a sickning crack, the angels ran and restrained the struggle the scared girl. Looking up God seemed to just notice the female, "and who is this young one, she isn't a demon. Who are you little one?" "I'm Kawan Gate" the lord's eyes went wide well the angels hopped back, Kawan shaking run to the deviles side and let her tears streak her face. The Almighty stood and willed the girl to sleep which she gave into.
